When the right time comes, the question ‘Ska vi fika?’ is just a formality. No matter how urgent the project you're working on, the break for a cup of coffee and something sweet to eat is sacred! We’re not exaggerating, are we? Fika is work-life balance in pure form. A well-worn cliché in some societies, in Sweden it is a custom with an established tradition.
Our Swedish friends say that you can take fika literally anywhere, but the right conditions will definitely enhance its recuperative power.
That is why some of the furniture shown at the fair has been designed specially for fika in the office. As we designed the Play&Work sofa, we envisaged office workers feeling as if they were taking fika at home. Hence the comfortable seats to fully enjoy the short break. We wanted the informal style of the furniture to let people completely forget about the office around them. We also thought about the special aspect of that tradition of yours, which is to establish and maintain relationships. When arranged into ‘islands’, the sofas bring workers closer together, making them feel like a gang of close friends. If we were to put in one word our aspirations to create fika-friendly furniture for the office, it would be: tretår. We hope you will feel comfortable enough on our sofas to ask for a second refill.
Play&Work sofas will also work as a spot for the less formal meetings. They provide sufficient space to discuss joint projects, come up with new ideas or find the right solutions in a small team or with a customer.
Chairs and tables from the Tauko line, on the other hand, create a warm, café-like space. We have tested them in our freshly inaugurated office in Kraków. In its central part, we placed Coffee Garden – a big space with lots of natural wood and plants, where we meet to relax and have lunch, just like you.
The minimalist furniture in the style of home-office design is just the perfect solution for the place. Just like Play&Work sofas, it reminds us that the ability to recuperate and release the reserves of your creativity is one of the cornerstones of effective work.
A perfect break in the office is one after which you are happy to return to your work. To make that happen, you need the right conditions to let you fully focus on upcoming challenges. This is made easier by acoustic solutions – Sileo panels and Formo curtains. These products combine sound-proofing properties with design that introduces certain cosiness into office spaces (one of the materials used in the production of both solutions is felt). In such circumstances, work time slips by fast and, before you know it, someone asks if it’s time for a coffee break. Or in other words: Ska vi fika?
